The RISD/Philadelphia Alumni Club invites you to their Spring 2017 event!

Join Kenneth Leap [86 GL], Head of the Building Arts Program at Bryn Athyn College, as he leads a tour of the stunning gothic Bryn Athyn Cathedral and grounds.

Please meet at the Gardens at Glencairn Museum (just beyond the end of the parking lot) at 12:00 p.m. A private catered lunch will be held nearby, with small group tours of the Cathedral and Glencairn Museum to follow. This event is rain or shine and limited to just 30 participants.


About the Speaker:

J. Kenneth Leap began his career in stained glass in 1987 when he opened his studio, The Painted Window, a year after earning a BFA in Glass from RISD. Later he received a fellowship from the NJ State Council on the Arts and is known for his public art installations throughout New Jersey. He is an ambassador artist for the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center in Millville, NJ, a certified teaching artist with the NJ State Council of the Arts, and artist-in-residence at Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athyn, PA. He teaches stained glass at Bryn Athyn College where he also directs the Building Arts Summer Program. He is currently Chair of the Education Committee with the American Glass Guild.

What is the refund policy?
Refunds will only be honored if the Cathedral must close due to an emergency. There can be no refunds on cancelled registrations or no-shows.

What are the driving directions and parking options?
- From I-95: Take Exit 35 Woodhaven Rd (Rt. 63) and travel east until the expressway ends. Go left on the service road and then right on Byberry. Follow Byberry 3 miles to Rt. 232 (2nd Street or Huntingdon Pike), then left 1 mile to the Cathedral on the right (1st light).
- From PA Turnpike: Take Exit 343 Willow Grove, proceed north on 611 Easton Rd to the 1st traffic light. Sharp right onto Mill Rd/Warminster Rd. Travel east 2 miles to Byberry Rd. Turn right on Spur Road and travel 2 miles to Huntingdon Pike/Rt. 232. Turn right and go south about 1 mile to the Cathedral on your right (1st light)
- Please park in the lot off Cathedral Road and meet the group by the Gardens at Glencairn Museum, at the end of the parking lot.

Are there restrictions on photography?
Yes, requests to photograph the Cathedral must be approved in-person and in-advance at the front desk.





Built from 1913 to 1928, the Gothic Cathedral, Glencairn Mansion and stunning grounds are home to the New Church of Christianity. The New Church is based on the Bible teachings by 18th century theologian and scientist Emanuel Swedenborg.
